101 Zone

My initial thought was to lay bare the wounds that each of us carries inside, here comes the title: Those hidden wounds. Then as I was putting together the project I’ve come up with another interpretation. Some of these postcards are Eduardian age, sewing them up together gave me almost the impression to find pieces of life, memories, feelings, images that belong to the past and then the my work is a work of memory, even if not mine. Reassembling pieces of frozen pictures from years of neglect is as if reconstruct their history, their hopes, their sufferings, ultimately their lives.

Il mio pensiero iniziale era di mettere a nudo le ferite che ognuno di noi porta dentro, ecco spiegato il titolo: Quelle ferite nascoste. Poi mentre stavo mettendo insieme il progetto, ho avuto un’altra interpretazione. Alcune di queste cartoline sono di epoca  eduardiana, cucirle insieme mi ha dato quasi l’impressione di trovare pezzi di vita, ricordi, sentimenti, immagini che appartengono al passato e quindi il mio lavoro è un lavoro di memoria, anche se non mio. Riassemblare pezzi di immagini congelate da anni di abbandono è come ricostruire la loro storia, le loro speranze, le loro sofferenze, in definitiva le loro vite.
